Today we leave Reykjavik and head for the smaller town of Selfoss. Along the way are countless beautiful waterfalls for which the region is famed.
But our first big adventure is at a zipline which goes over a river and is more than 1 km long! Dory and I both opt for the “superman” position facing down, while Mike goes for the more original seated position. My top speed was 75km/h, but Dory was *much* faster and probably hit 100.
It was a great way to start the day before heading on to explore some lava tubes on the way to Selfoss.
Mike noticed that the map contained a piece of art called the “Big Lobster”, and as Australians we couldn’t simply drive past a big anything without stopping for a photo with it.
Once in Selfoss, we checked in to our beautiful boutique accommodation on the edge of someone’s farm, and immediately set about filling the hot tub. With Iceland’s geothermal activity, hot water flows like cold here and so no energy was needed to heat it up to a balmy 38 degrees... the opposite of tomorrow's activity.
